Yep, you read that right.
During Monday morning's class I was discussing a toilet seat.
Not exactly what you expect to hear in a yoga-style stretch class, huh?
But stick with me because there’s a lesson here.
You see, my old plastic toilet seat was broken. The slow-close feature had stopped working, so every time it slammed down, it sounded like someone dropped a kettlebell in the bathroom. BANG.
Annoying?
You bet.
So, I finally decided it was time for an upgrade.
I went to the store and bought a brand-new wooden white toilet seat.
Fancy, right?
Here’s the thing… not only does it not bang down anymore, but it’s also incredibly comfortable.
I’m talking luxury-level comfort—like a spa day for my backside.
And in that moment, sitting there (you know what I mean), I had a realization:
Life is better when you enjoy the simple pleasures.
Seriously.
A comfortable toilet seat.
A quiet moment with a cup of coffee.
The stretch that finally loosens up that tight spot in your back.
We get so caught up in chasing the big stuff—huge accomplishments, big goals, fancy gadgets—that we forget the simple things can bring just as much joy. Sometimes more.
That’s what I love about our classes.
They’re simple.
No crazy, complicated moves.
No need to push yourself to exhaustion.
Just you, your breath, and movements that feel good… really good.
The kind of good that makes you say, “Wow, I didn’t know my body could feel this light, this strong, this alive.”
And guess what?
We have fun while we’re at it.
I mean, if we can laugh about a toilet seat during class, what can’t we laugh about? Life is too short to take ourselves so seriously.
So here’s your challenge
Look for the simple pleasures today.
The warm sun on your face.
A good stretch in class.
That moment of peace when you pause and just breathe.
Because when you learn to enjoy the little things, life improves dramatically.
Oh, and if your toilet seat is broken?
Fix it.
Trust me on this one.
Action Step
Join me in class this week. Let’s laugh, stretch, and celebrate the simple stuff together. Who knows what random story will pop into my head next… but I promise, it’ll make you smile.
I love this message!
